A starting point
The World English Bible and Berean Standard Bible use modern English and can be read in full here. The King James Version has an important historic place, but some of its words now carry different meanings.
What comparison can do
Translations make choices about words, grammar and idiom. Looking at two editions can reveal where wording varies. A difference does not by itself establish that one translator has acted dishonestly.
What comparison cannot do
A side-by-side reader is not a substitute for knowledge of Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek. Word counts and English wording do not settle every interpretive question.
Why some editions are missing
NIV, ESV, NLT, NKJV and other familiar modern editions have publication terms. Being available on another website does not give this ministry permission to host their complete texts. We currently provide editions with reusable source texts.
Read the source notes
Historical spelling and the supplied verse labels are retained. Some modern editions leave a numbered verse empty or place it in a textual note; do not fill that gap using a different translation. KJV publication rights in the United Kingdom require particular care.
